One of the most beloved Turkish pastry is called “Simit”. Simit is made with bread dough and sesame seeds on. You can easily make your own “Simit” with this homemade Turkish simit recipe.

  • 1 glass lukewarm water

  • Half glass cooking oil
  • 1/2 tea spoon or 1 Turkish tea spoon salt

  • 1 tea spoon instant yeast powder

Homemade Turkish Simit Recipe

In order to prepare homemade Simit recipe dough, Pour lukewarm water, milk and cooking oil in a bowl. Mix it and add salt, sugar and instant yeast powder, keep mixing.

Add white flour slowly while mixing the dough until the simit dough is soft and tender. Put some paper towel or thin cloth on it and let it rise for 30 minutes.

Pour 3 glasses of water, 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of sugar in a bowl. Whisk it as fast as possible.

When the dough is ready, make prepare little doughnut-shaped simit and cover with egg-sugar mixture. Then sprinkle sesame seeds on it.

Put baking sheet on the tray. Preheat the oven 220 degrees. Put these doughnut-shaped simits on baking tray, cook for about 20 mins.

When it looks light brown and ready, serve hot.
